MassTransit 5 and Later Hot Fix Installation Instructions

Group Logic periodically releases "hot fixes" to its products which provide customers with access to bug fixes and new features before a full public release is available. This page lists the hot fixes that are available for the MassTransit product line.

Hot fixes can be used in a production environment but they require a more technical installation process as they have not been wrapped into a full product installer.

Group Logic recommends you only upgrade to a hot fix if it fixes a specific problem or contains a feature that you need before a public release occurs.

MTWeb Instructions for Windows

At this point in the hotfix process, the MassTransit Engine, Administrator, and MTWeb components should already be updated (this section assumes that you have already followed the steps in the Mass Transit Enterprise - Windows hotfix instructions above).

Please follow the instructions below to ensure that the newly updated MTWeb is configured properly:

  • Browse to the MassTransit MTWeb directory on your server (by default C:\Program Files\Group Logic\MassTransit Server 5\MTWeb).
  • Open the templates_c folder inside your MTWeb folder and delete all contents in that folder.
  • Open the parsed folder inside your MTWeb folder and delete all contents in that folder.
  • Ensure that the windows user account associated with the IIS website for MassTransit has read and write permissions on the templates_c and parsed folders.
  • Carefully update the relevant settings in the newly updated mtweb.ini file (in the MTWeb folder) using your backup version as a reference. Do not copy the old backup version back to this directory to use it as the live version as the parameters may have changed.
  • Ensure the mtweb.ini file is configured properly and the parameter mAvailPluginVersionWin and mAvailPluginVersionOSX are delimited by commas. The downloaded mtweb.ini file contains default values.
  • If you are upgrading from a 5.0.1 version of MassTransit to a 5.0.2 version or later, please ensure that the version of PHP being used is at least 5.1.6. Also, add the following line to the Dynamic Extensions section of the php.ini file (default installation is: C:\Windows).
    • extension=php_soap.dll
  • If PHP logging has not previously been configured, follow the steps below to configure it (these steps are optional, but recommended to facilitate easier troubleshooting). Edit the following lines of the php.ini file (typically located in the following directory: C:\Windows) and save the file when you are done.
    • error_reporting = E_ALL
    • log_errors = on
    • error_log = "MT-PHPLog.log"
Please note that for the error log to be written, the windows user account associated with the IIS web site that MassTransit is using (generally IUSR_COMPUTERNAME) needs to have write access to the log file. By default (if you donít specify a folder), the default log file location will be your webroot folder. If you do not want to give the windows user account associated with the IIS web site full access to this folder, you may create an empty log file with this name manually and then grant that windows user account write access to that file only
  • Restart the IIS Web Page Hosting Service

Your MassTransit Enterprise Server is now completely updated and configured with the latest hot fix version.

MTWeb Instructions for Mac OS X

At this point in the hotfix process, the MassTransit Engine, Administrator, and MTWeb components should already be updated (this section assumes that you have already followed the steps in the Mass Transit Enterprise - Mac OS X hotfix instructions above).

  • Using the Finder window, browse to the MassTransit MTWeb folder (by default: Applications: MassTransit Server 5 Folder: MTWeb).
  • Carefully update the relevant settings in the new mtweb.ini file using your backup version as a reference. Do not use a copy of the backed up mtweb.ini file as the file parameters may no longer be valid
  • Ensure the mtweb.ini file is configured properly and the parameter mAvailPluginVersionWin and mAvailPluginVersionOSX are delimited by commas. The downloaded mtweb.ini file contains default values
  • Open the templates_c folder inside your MTWeb folder and delete all contents in that folder.
  • Open the parsed folder inside your MTWeb folder and delete all contents in that folder.
  • Ensure that the templates_c and parsed folders have read and write permissions set for all users.
  • Restart the Apache Web Page Hosting Service.

Your MassTransit Enterprise Server is now updated and configured with the latest hotfix version.
